Frank Parcells (Ph. D., Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, 1983) joined the faculty at APSU in 2001 fafter his early retirement from the Communication Studies Department at Eastern Illinois University following his 20 year tenure in at that institution. Dr. Parcells serves as a Professor in the Department of Communication at Austin Peay where he teaches in his specialty areas of broadcast media, corporate communication, and Internet technology. As Graduate Coordinator of the all online M. A. in corporate communication program, he recruits and advises graduate students, oversees many of their research projects and theses, and teaches classes online in the Desire To Learn (D2L) Web environment.
 
Parcells is a member of the APSU graduate faculty and serves on the Graduate and Research Council, the Institutional Review Board, and the University Technology Committee. Dr. Parcells also chairs the Faculty Research Grants Committee for the College of Graduate Studies. Frank Parcells has developed and today directs an unusual nonprofit agency, Tennessee Volunteerism (TNVolunteerism.org), an Internet services firm offering free Web hosting to nonprofit organizations throughout middle Tennessee. He holds many professional memberships including the American Marketing Association, Broadcast Education Association, International Association of Business Communicators, National Communication Association, and Public Relations Society of America. Dr. Parcells is the Executive Vice President of the Nashville IABC where he received the President's Award in 2007, and is also a member of the Nashville AMA, and the Nashville PRSA. Most recently, Dr. Parcells chaired a panel at the 2008 Broadcast Education Association Convention in Las Vegas looking at the effectiveness of websites for U. S. commercial radio stations.
 
Parcells in the Communication Industry
 
Parcells began his broadcast career in 1965, and spent 15 years announcing at, promoting, programming and managing many radio stations including KTLK in Denver, WLOB/WRQN in Portland, WCIL-FM in Carbondale, WROK in Rockford, WYFE in Rockford, WISM in Madison and a 50,000 watt, noncommercial FM station owned by Wabash Valley College. He has received ADDY awards from various chapters of the American Advertising Federation for his work in audio commercial production.
 
Internet businesses are familiar to Dr. Parcells, as he has owned and operated an Internet Service Provider firm which he sold to Egix of Indianapolis, and is today owned by eVolve Business Solutions, a division of Cincinnatti Bell of Ohio. Frank Parcells has also owned and operated Parcells Public Relations (1983 to 2006) and AdMark Communications (2000 to 2007), an online marketing communication and Web design firm, and the Mid Tennessee Network (2000 to 2008), a Web hosting company. Currently, Dr. Parcells has his own consulting firm, DrParcells.com, where he offers communication services to corporations and businesses.
